On Saturday, Sept. 13, supporters gathered at Lynfield Gardens in Bell Buckle for an evening of celebration, community and purpose at the Friends of the Historic Bell Buckle School's Blooms, Bites & Bids fundraising event.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of one of Bell Buckle’s most scenic venues, the evening began with a lively social hour and silent auction, accompanied by the music of Shelbyville native Brett Bone.
As dinner was served, attendees were treated to an elegant meal, thoughtfully prepared to reflect the character and charm of the community. Dinner was catered by Emmy’s Restaurant and prepared by Emmy’s own Martha Akers, whose thoughtful menu was a highlight of the evening. Following the meal, guests enjoyed a special musical performance by the Starlight Jazz Trio.
The silent auction featured a diverse array of goods and services donated by local businesses and artisans. From handmade crafts and specialty gift baskets to dining experiences and home services, there was something for everyone. Proceeds from the auction will support the organization's ongoing efforts to preserve and restore the historic Bell Buckle School site.
Friends of the Historic Bell Buckle School is currently preparing for the next phase of its capital campaign, with plans to partner with an architect and move forward in the restoration of the last publicly owned building in Bell Buckle. The ultimate goal: to transform the site into a vibrant community center that honors the past while serving the needs of the future.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated and helped make the evening a success. With your continued support, what was once a symbol of loss will become a place of celebration, learning and connection for all.
